Top 3 Best of Show Photos:
First – Mira Janacek’s photo “What’re You Staring At?” was judged to be the best photo of the contest and scored a near perfect 29 points. This excellent shot in the Wildlife category shows a beautiful owl apparently watching something intently. Was it the Photographer? The photo is well shot and sharp with camouflaged tone, perfect composition and cropping. The soft lighting is ideal for showing off this magnificent bird.
Second – Judy Fleetham’s “Velvet Rose” scored a very respectable 28 points. This photo, from the Flora category shows a perfect specimen with perfect lighting. The photo has great composition, is well exposed and has wonderful complimentary colours. The catch of sunlight on the edges of the flower gives the flower a chance to pop out from the background.
Third – Judy Fleetham’s “Bridge Art 1” was also a high scorer with 27 points and is a photo entered in the Environmental Issues category. This photo shows gorgeous saturated colours and the dramatic sunset light gives this photo a lot of interest throughout. The photo is nicely exposed with very sharp focus. The subject of the photo works well for the Environmental Issues category.
We thank all the participants for entering their best photos. The caliber of the photos entered each year just continues to improve along with the photographers’ skills and amaze the judges.
