Beautiful Bowness is an active community with a wonderful community spirit. Located on the banks of the Bow River, this 100 year old village and neighbourhood has great facilities, sports fields, beautiful parks and of course the best Stampede Parade and Breakfast in town!
100 years young! 1911-2011
Bowness celebrates our centennial this year with many fun events for the whole family. The Homecoming Weekend is July 29 – July 31 and has several events planned including a Film Festival on Friday night, a Dinner & Dance on Saturday night and the Bowness Historical Society’s Tour and Tea on Sunday. All are welcome to participate. Check out the Bowness Centennial page or look in your Bowest’ner for full details.
August 1, the Bowness Revitalization Zone is having a street festival on ‘Main Street’ to celebrate our Centennial in style. Join the party and check out all of our wonderful businesses that are so vital to our community.
In September, as in days gone by, our community gardeners gather together to participate in the 2nd Annual Harvest Fair at the Bowness Community Centre & Arena. The whole neighbourhood is invited to join in the fun. This celebration has produce and preserving contests, games and prizes, plus community information booths. Join us on September 10, 2011 from 1 pm – 4 pm.
October 5, 2011 at 7 pm is the Annual General Meeting of the Bowness Community Association. Find out what we’ve been up to and how you can get involved. We will also be honouring our wonderful volunteers for without whom we would not be able to bring you all of the fantastic community events this year. You must have a membership to attend. However, the good news is that for the month of September all Bowness Community Association memberships are FREE!!! Contact the BCA Office at 403-288-8300 for full details.
Following the AGM, the party continues with an invitation only volunteer celebration: Volunteers Rock!
December 3, 2011, join us at the Community Centre for the BCA 2nd Annual Holiday Dinner & Celebration from 5 pm – 7 pm. This free event is for all residents of Bowness. It’s our way of saying thanks for all of your support by celebrating the season. There is a wonderful turkey dinner with all the trimmings, musical entertainment and children’s activities. There will also be a surprise appearance by the season’s most sought after celebrity.
For specific information about BCA community events, please see the calendar of events on the Events tab above or check out your Bowest’ner for full details.
Volunteer: Life is Better When it’s Shared!
None of the events we have planned this year would be possible without the help and support of many volunteers. Get involved! Share your talents, meet your neighbours, and have fun doing it. How and when you volunteer is up to you! Check out our Volunteer tab for a full list of activities and positions. Fill out the form below or on the Volunteer page and we can explore all the possibilities together!
Come share it with Us!
